Network Map for Linksys Smart Wifi

problem:

The Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Device List, a dashboard of connected network devices, was boring, dated, provided no affordances, and had limited functionality.

goal:

Create a device centric interface that positioned Linksys routers visually as the center of the network and provide affordances for device specific actions, status and notifications.

process:

User research, solicitation of feedback, UX design, iteration.

results:

  • Network Map, a UI that presented the router as the center of the network with all connected network devices associated around it.

  • Enabled device status, notifications, and highlighted device specific actions

  • Filtering capabilities for connection type and device type

  • Bandwidth usage feature

  • Integrated Belkin WeMo network device support.

WRT1900AC Router release

goal:

Innovate on the legendary Linksys WRT brand, introducing a high-performance AC router with enhancements to Linksys Smart Wi-Fi and the option for OpenWRT.

process:

User research, solicitation of feedback, UX design, iteration.

results:

  • Re-release of the Linksys WRT brand and the WRT1900AC.

  • Redefine the end-to-end CX. The entire experience was finely groomed - from the New and improved industrial design with massive throughput

  • Reimagined marketing and in-store presentation, and unboxing experience, through device setup

  • Linksys Smart Wi-Fi updates and advanced capabilities only available on the WRT routers.

Not surprisingly, the WRT1900AC has an easy and friendly user interface, one that Trusted Reviews calls “the most intuitive router UI.

Linksys rebrand

goal:

To apply revised branding to all Linksys products, interfaces and related printed collateral.

This was less a design effort and more a collaboration with various teams to exchange the branding Linksys products, router management interfaces for desktop and mobile, setup software, printed setup guides and all related device illustrations.

my role:

Internal audit of all Linksys software solution properties, creation of the appropriate branded asset from marketing logo lockups and coordination of handoff of assets to development.

Device setup

Similar to my time at Cisco, while at Belkin, I worked cross-functionally and I managed the UX design and illustration for all Linksys device setup workflows. This included photorealistic device specific diagrams used in the setup software and in-box Quick Setup Guides (QSG). The included software was either Cisco Connect or Linksys Smart Wi-Fi based and involved upwards of 25+ different products.
